problems occur..

I was suppose to finish the primary shots by today with "sim yee"

Unfortunately, something happened. The penolong kanan of that primary school suddenly appeared and stop me from shooting.

Everything is quite complicated but the conclusion is I've to reshoot some of the scenes that suppose to be completed by simyee..

At the same time, I'm running out of time now... I'm suppose to finish most of the shooting by December..
Now I've to like extend my shooting again.

It's really a big trouble for me.

PS : Gonna figure out the schedule and book TOA's place for shooting.

Finally, my actress is back and we continue the "hide under table" scene..
I think is fine.
but I still face problems,
such as..
the expected angle not really working well.. looks kinda funny and weird.
So, I kept trying on different angles and this took me quite long time..

Besides, I've only my actress and "me" for today shooting..
So I tried to place the light on the chair or floor, hopefully I'll get the lighting I want.

weekend shooting with MeiZhen a.k.a may ( 14 & 15.12.2013

So today we've some reshoot and staircase scenes of MeiZhen :)

and she brought us a new helper, her sister who is also from TOA. 

She helped us to carry the lighting (helpful^^)

So basically this is how the staircase looks like during shooting.

I sticked newspaper to cover the sunlight and it looks much more darker in video mode.

So this is my "mini lighting" :D

So this is the corridor scene where SimYee hide under the table and MeiZhen went in and look for her :)

I randomly arrange all the tables and chairs so that they looks messy and being abandoned... then use the newspaper again to cover the sunlight. At the same time, use black cloth to be the background so the entire place gonna be as dark as possible. 

This seriously involves lot of hard work of my crew (only 1 crew :'( ). I'll show more detail on how she put the cloth on in my next post. 

So besides that, I hung another black cloth in the classroom..so that it blocks the sunlight from the classroom to the corridor. 

Again, the main purpose is just to make the corridor darker. 

And here's another blocking. 

So overall, it looks like this!!!!!! Blocked the whole corridor. 

Again, I would like to say it's not easy for two people to do all this and there's not only 1 corridor scene in this story. We've to set few of them. 

So this picture shows more clearly how my crew set up the newspaper. She needs to stand on the table when comes to the other side. *dangerous*

There's one scene that we had some problems with "no electricity" on the entire 4th floor...
Then, we smartly connect the electricity from 3rd floor to 4th floor with 3 extension. 

Again, she did lot of set up thingy.. helps alot.

This scene is when my protagonist, SimYee hide in the room and MeiZhen appeared.. =)

So, we'll definitely have some fun time during the video shoot...so that everyone won't get too stressful and bored :)

experiment on interface design

In terms of interface design I would like to have simple typography design instead of any traditional shapes and squares frame. 

I would have text overlay on the video and have simple animation as well. 

For example, when the protagonist ask for help.. I'll add in some texts like "answer call" or "help her"..so that the user know what they should do when comes to certain stage.

Besides, when comes to options..there will be some texts as well. 

=)

This is just some draft, simple one.

I've made a few sec ones..with simple text animation. 

The problem of this is ..when long video import into adobe flash, the audio and visual will kinda move separately. So this happens to my video and I'm asking Joanne for solution. :) 

today's shooting

All this while I guess the biggest problem that I've encountered throughout this video shooting is to put all my talents together for shooting. 

All of them have their own schedule and most of the time,

they can't really shoot on the same day.

But there're some scenes that require them to shoot face to face..

so I'm really worry about this and still solving this problem now.

So we had shooting with one of our talent today, name may in the movie.

Everything was kinda fine..just the problem is..we need our protagonist to be here with here to finish the complete shot and another main shot.

Now I've no choice but to break those shot into two...

shoot separately and then combine them together.

This is the only thing I can do. 

I'm really afraid this shooting will drag till January, I know it's too late if I still shooting in January..

But I seriously don't know how to solve this problem. 

And what I worry is,

the primary school not going to allow me to continue shooting in January. 

Footages that I've now I'll record the sound again then add into the final video. 

This is because most of time, I've not enough helper to carry either the mic or lighting.

So, I've to work more on post-production..

consultation with ZUI about video

Tomorrow is my video shooting day and I've to set up by today..

In order to attend both the consultation with my technical lecturer and set up at my primary school,
I've to drive to college and back to kepong in the afternoon for set up. 
Unfortunately, I've some transport problem and only able to drive to Sunway around evening time..
So kinda adjusted my consultation time to 5pm. 
It was a last minute decision because of the transport issue.

Anyway, back to the content of the consultation..

I've showed Zui my original footages. Basically, some of the footages are fine..
but some of it..Zui doesn't really like too much set up with newspaper..
as the newspaper might be quite distracting to the audience ..
But this is the most I can do..I dont have enough budget for more black clothes, as it costs a lot.

So WHAT I CAN ONLY DO IS TO...work more on post production, in AFTER EFFECTS.


Besides, try to reduce shots with newspaper background or else I'll have to spend more time on post production. 

Set up is the biggest issue throughout this video shooting. Therefore, I spend like 4 days shooting only one corridor scene. 

As you see in the picture above, my crew and I had covered the whole corridor with newspaper and black clothes. It is not easy to do all this and definitely this took us around one and a half day time.. ( not including evening and night ). 

Then Zui suggested me to shoot at night but this involve the safety issue of my crew and the principle might not allow too. So, I decided to stick with my old plan but try to make it faster.

Shooting at grandpa house (2)

So today we're back to my grandpa house to continue the shooting..and finally, we completed!!!!!

Basically, everything still fine..

this shooting finished on time.

my talent was getting better in acting..

So here's where we used eye shadow to make the face looks dirty.

I pretty think this picture is really nice that it shows the "escape" feel..

Shooting at granpa house (1)

Today we had this shooting at my grandpa's house. Previously I've a post that show roughly the look and feel of this room. 

I didn't change much of it..just that I've sticked some newspapers and cardboard to cover the windows...So the room looks darker and from inside, it looks like something blocked the window to stop the person inside from escaping. 

Here're some pictures of the protagonist. 

 

Here're some of the videos that I've shot and think they're pretty good ones. I will record the sound again after tis shooting and add into the final video..

This is because I don't have enough helper for me to hold mic or light..

So everything have to do by myself and work harder in the post production.

( OPTIONS / RESESARCH ) Interface of flash play

So, I would need some simple interface design for my flash payer since it's an interactive video ...

It's either few words or some simple icon.

Since I want it simple...I would probably make it like "minimalist" style.

I think overlaying certain colors and low apacity icon is a great idea..

looks modern, simple and suits the concept of "minimalist".

This is like overlaying words and shape as a frame

I think it's nice..but I more prefer the previous one

So this is just like the traditional's button.

Nothing special.

This two layouts is all about typeface.

Play with the typography without shapes and images.

Simple enough.

Was thinking instead of only words, adding certain specific icons on the video player is also a good idea.

Because most of the time, certain graphics/icons is much more easier and faster for understanding.

So I've got some of the research on icons which are more to minimalist/simple. 

Without complicated strokes or colors..

just small icon.
